Work out the upload you need before you go live.
Choose the quality you stream at and the number of platforms you want to reach. The calculator compares sending every feed from your encoder with sending one feed to Stream Repeater and letting the relay handle the platform fan-out.
Stream settings
Start with a preset quality, then adjust bitrate or destination count if your stream differs.
Throughput estimate
These are continuous rates. For stability, keep at least 25% spare upload above the calculated encoder requirement.
Direct multistreaming multiplies upload
If your encoder sends a separate feed to each platform, your home or venue connection carries every copy at the same time.
Server-side relay keeps upload flat
With Stream Repeater, your encoder sends one clean feed. The relay server handles outbound delivery to every destination.
Plan for headroom
Live streams need spare capacity for network jitter, audio, protocol overhead and bitrate spikes. Aim for at least 25% spare upload.
